Documents for freelancers

Which invoicing tool should a freelancer in Thailand use? Five options compared

Freelancers and businesses in Thailand that are not VAT-registered can issue documents with BaiPe from a phone: no signup, no subscription, 3 free and then a one-time ฿249. If you are VAT-registered, use accounting software. Five options compared, from each company’s own site.

1In short: what a freelancer should use

  • Freelancers and businesses that are not VAT-registered: BaiPe is made for you. Open it on your phone and issue a quotation, invoice or receipt straight away, with no account and no accounting menus to set up. The document carries a PromptPay QR for the amount and works out withholding tax.
  • Price: 3 documents free, then a one-time ฿249 that lasts, with no monthly or yearly fee. It covers unlimited documents, your logo and signature, billing in parts, and backup.
  • The other options: PEAK, FlowAccount and DoctPoint are online systems that need an account. Each has a free plan, and yearly plans for more features such as deposits or a PromptPay QR. The table has the details.
  • VAT-registered: use accounting software that issues tax invoices, such as PEAK or FlowAccount. BaiPe does not issue tax invoices.

This page is written by BaiPe, one of the five options compared. For that reason everything it says about another product is taken from that company’s own website, and the links are in the sources section.

3BaiPe: who it suits, who it does not

BaiPe is a web app for making Thai quotations, invoices and receipts on a phone. It is made for freelancers and businesses that are not VAT-registered, so it holds only what that work needs.

  • Easy to start: no account and nothing to install from a store. Open it in your phone’s browser and issue your first document. A quotation becomes an invoice and then a receipt without retyping.
  • Pay once: 3 documents free, then a one-time ฿249, with no monthly or yearly fee. That covers unlimited documents, your logo and signature, billing in parts, and backup.
  • Against the yearly plans elsewhere: part payments and deposit receipts start at PEAK’s e-Document plan, ฿2,500 a year (before VAT), and at FlowAccount’s Pro plan, ฿2,990 a year. DoctPoint’s PromptPay QR starts at its Standard plan, ฿3,300 a year.
  • Get paid sooner: the document carries a PromptPay QR with the amount for the client to scan, and when a client withholds tax it shows what you will actually receive.
  • Your data stays yours: documents and client details are stored on your device, and the app works without internet after the first open.
  • Suits: freelancers, individuals and businesses that are not VAT-registered and want correct documents from a phone, with no account and no monthly fee.
  • Does not suit: anyone VAT-registered. BaiPe does not issue tax invoices and its documents have no VAT line.
  • Does not suit: anyone who needs bookkeeping, financial statements, or access for an accountant or a team. BaiPe is not accounting software and runs on one device at a time.
  • Limit to know: the data is on one device. If the device is lost or the browser’s data is cleared without a backup, the data is gone, and backup is part of the ฿249 unlock.
  • Limit to know: BaiPe does not issue the 50 Tawi withholding tax certificate. The client that withholds the tax issues it; the app tracks which ones you have not received.

4PEAK, free Freelance plan: who it suits, who it does not

PEAK is online accounting software with a free Freelance plan for people who work alone. Its pricing page says the free plan has 1 user, issues quotations, invoices, receipts, tax invoices, credit notes and debit notes, has no monthly limit on documents, works in the PEAK Mobile app, and can issue withholding tax certificates in PEAK Tax.

The free plan’s limits on the same page: up to 20 contacts, up to 5 products, cash as the only payment channel, entries dated no more than 2 months back, no export of document reports, and no billing notes, deposit receipts, part payments, editing of the document layout or e-Tax invoices. Those start at the e-Document plan, ฿2,500 a year (before VAT).

  • Suits: anyone who is VAT-registered or expects to be, because the free plan issues tax invoices.
  • Suits: anyone who wants to start free and move to full accounting in the same program as the business grows.
  • Does not suit: anyone who does not want an account, has more than 20 contacts, or needs billing notes and deposits without paying for a plan.

5FlowAccount: who it suits, who it does not

FlowAccount is online accounting software. Its pricing page has a Free plan described as suited to freelancers and free for life: 1 user, unlimited documents, unlimited products and contacts, use in the mobile app, quotations, billing notes/invoices, delivery notes/tax invoices and receipts, a logo and signature on documents, and collecting payment through a document link.

From the Standard plan (฿1,990 a year): withholding tax certificates, expense notes, automatic bookkeeping, financial statements, input and output VAT reports, and e-Tax Invoice by Time Stamp. From the Pro plan (฿2,990 a year): credit notes, debit notes, abbreviated tax invoices, part payments, deposit documents, and more than one user.

  • Suits: anyone who is VAT-registered, wants an accounting system, or has a team and an accountant who must share it.
  • Does not suit: anyone who does not want an account, or needs deposits and part payments without paying for a plan.

6DoctPoint: who it suits, who it does not

DoctPoint is an online system for sales documents. It runs on the web with nothing to install, and you sign up to start. It has quotations, billing notes, invoices, tax invoices, receipts and sales reports.

The Free plan, as its site describes it: 1 user, unlimited quotations, and 10 sales bills a month. A logo and documents without a watermark start at Starter, ฿800 a year (100 sales bills a month), and a PromptPay QR for payment starts at Standard, ฿3,300 a year.

  • Suits: anyone who wants sales documents only, on the web, mainly issues quotations, and opens no more than 10 sales bills a month.
  • Does not suit: anyone who does not want an account, or wants a PromptPay QR on the document without paying for a plan.
  • Not stated on its site: a mobile app, use without internet, and withholding tax. If these matter to you, ask DoctPoint before you sign up.

7Excel, Word and Canva: who they suit, who they do not

A document can be made in any program. What matters is that it shows what it must. A receipt must show at least the items in Section 105 bis of the Revenue Code, such as the issuer’s taxpayer ID and name, the book and receipt numbers, the date and the amount received. The full list is in invoice vs receipt vs tax invoice.

With a file, these jobs are yours: numbering documents with no repeats and no gaps, working out the total and the amount after withholding tax, copying the details from the quotation to the invoice and the receipt, making a PromptPay QR image to place in the file, and keeping the files where you can find them at tax time.

  • Suits: anyone who issues a few documents a year, already has a form that works, or wants full control of the layout.
  • Does not suit: anyone who issues documents often, needs to follow which invoices are unpaid, or wants the program to number documents and do the sums.

To make a PromptPay QR for a file, use the PromptPay QR generator, and work out the amount after withholding with the withholding tax calculator.

8Choosing by your situation

  • Not VAT-registered: a business with income of no more than ฿1.8 million a year does not have to register for VAT (Revenue Department). The documents you use are the quotation, the invoice and the receipt. BaiPe is made for this case: no signup, documents with no VAT line, and a one-time ฿249 after 3 free documents.
  • VAT-registered: a registered business must issue tax invoices (Section 86 of the Revenue Code). Use PEAK or FlowAccount, which issue tax invoices from the free plan. DoctPoint has a tax invoice feature too. BaiPe will not do.
  • You have an accountant: ask which program your accountant uses, and use the same one. The free plans of PEAK and FlowAccount have 1 user. To bring an accountant into the system, PEAK e-Document has 3 users and FlowAccount Pro has unlimited users. BaiPe has no shared access: you hand over PDFs and, after the unlock, a CSV register of your documents.
  • A few documents a year: BaiPe gives 3 documents free with no signup, does the sums and adds a PromptPay QR. If you need more, it is a one-time ฿249 with no yearly fee to renew. An Excel or Word file you already have also works, if you do the sums and the numbering yourself.
  • Phone only: BaiPe opens in your phone’s browser and works without internet after the first open. PEAK and FlowAccount have mobile apps that make quotations, invoices and receipts. DoctPoint says it works on any device through the web.

As a rule, a company client withholds 3% tax on service fees under Revenue Department Order Tor Por 4/2528, and it is the client that issues the 50 Tawi certificate to you under Section 50 bis. Whichever tool you use, keep every receipt you issue and every 50 Tawi you receive.

Everything on this page is general information, not tax advice. Whether you must register for VAT, and which documents you must issue in your case, is a question for the Revenue Department (call 1161) or an accountant.

9Try BaiPe

If you are not VAT-registered, issue 3 real documents with BaiPe: no signup, no card, a few minutes on your phone. If you keep using it, it is a one-time ฿249 with no monthly fee.

10Common questions

Which invoicing app should a freelancer in Thailand use?

If you are not VAT-registered, BaiPe is made for you: quotations, invoices and receipts from your phone with no account, a PromptPay QR for the amount, 3 documents free and then a one-time ฿249 with no monthly fee. If you are VAT-registered, use accounting software that issues tax invoices, such as PEAK or FlowAccount.

PEAK is free. Why use BaiPe?

PEAK is online accounting software that needs an account. Its free plan is limited to 20 contacts and 5 products and has no billing notes, deposit receipts or document customisation; those start at the e-Document plan, ฿2,500 a year. BaiPe is made only for issuing documents: no account, data kept on your own device, use without internet, a PromptPay QR for the amount on the document, and a one-time ฿249 that brings your logo, signature and billing in parts with no yearly fee. If you are VAT-registered and must issue tax invoices, use PEAK, because BaiPe cannot.

Does FlowAccount have a free plan?

Yes. On 9 October 2026 FlowAccount’s pricing page had a Free plan described as free for life, with 1 user and unlimited documents. Withholding tax certificates, financial statements and e-Tax Invoice by Time Stamp start at the Standard plan, ฿1,990 a year.

Can I use Excel for quotations, invoices and receipts?

Yes. A document can be made in any program as long as it shows what it must. A receipt must show the items in Section 105 bis of the Revenue Code, such as the taxpayer ID, the issuer’s name, the number, the date and the amount. What you do yourself is the numbering, the amount after withholding tax, and keeping the files in order.

Which app makes an invoice without signing up?

Of the five options compared, BaiPe needs no account: open it in a browser and issue a document. PEAK, FlowAccount and DoctPoint need a signup first. An Excel or Word file on your own device needs none either.

Can I use BaiPe if I am VAT-registered?

You should not. BaiPe does not issue tax invoices and its documents have no VAT line. A VAT-registered business should use accounting software that issues tax invoices, such as PEAK or FlowAccount.

Which of these can issue a Thai tax invoice?

By their pricing pages on 9 October 2026, the free plans of PEAK and FlowAccount issue tax invoices, and DoctPoint has a tax invoice feature. BaiPe cannot. Only a VAT-registered business may issue a tax invoice.

My client withholds 3%. Which tool helps?

BaiPe shows the amount you will receive after withholding on the document, and tracks whether the client’s 50 Tawi has arrived. PEAK’s free plan has a feature for tax withheld from you. In FlowAccount, withholding tax certificates start at the Standard plan. DoctPoint’s site does not say. With Excel you work it out yourself.

How is BaiPe different from accounting software?

BaiPe does one job: quotations, invoices and receipts, with a simple income summary. So there is no chart of accounts or accounting menu to set up, no signup, and one payment. Accounting software such as PEAK and FlowAccount has bookkeeping, financial statements and tax invoices, which a VAT-registered business needs.

Does BaiPe have a monthly fee?

No. The first 3 documents are free, then a one-time ฿249 gives unlimited documents. There is no monthly or yearly fee, and future updates cost nothing more.
